LIONEL 6-17876 COLUMBIA NEWBERRY & LAURENS "STANDARD O" BOXCAR WEATHERED!

Description

This is a Lionel C.N.&L. box car. Part #6-17876.  It was produced for the LCCA in 1989.
It features heavy, die-cast sprung wheel trucks and couplers, "standard O", 1:48 scale dimensions.
I bought this in new, unused condition for its realism and relatively low cost to try my hand at weathering.  I used a flat black enamel wash followed by a dusting of tempera pigments applied dry, finally sealed with Krylon matte spray finish.  It looks much more realistic than the shiny plastic factory finishes, but not sure if I am ready to weather my other Lionel "standard O" rolling stock.  Check the photos and see what you think.
I'm not sure how to grade this as it has never been run.  Other than weathering the unit is in new condition with original liner bag and box also in new condition.
