Description
After this company was in business for decades, during WWII, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby decided it was a great soda to invest in, in 1947.This brand was sold first at the Alabama Grocery Company of Birmingham, Alabama. Even Teddy Roosevelt tried it in 1908.
Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale became the store's biggest seller, so they decided to sell the rights to Lime Cola to a Montgomery, Alabama concern, and incorporated the new company in July of 1915. It was located at 107 South Court Street. In 1945, the company was controlled by new owners and had dozens of franchises in 27 states and Mexico. In 1948, Bing's and Bob's heavily invested company applied for bankruptcy protection. The new company was known as Lime Cola of Tennessee with headquarters now in Chattanooga. In 1952, the name again changed to General Beverages. That company made a line of sodas for Walt Disney/Donald Duck.
